Here is what Sandra has to say about the friendly grasshopper:
This is a couple of photos of a grasshopper sculpture by Wilf Perrault. In the summer it is filled with green plants and in the winter it’s covered in lights. This year, the antenna are red and the body is manly white with green on the legs.
Any Prairie dweller is familiar with grasshoppers. To me they are a symbol of our perseverance. For many years, when I worked as a writer, we referred to Saskatchewan as “Next Year Country” because no matter how bad things may be this year, no matter how many grasshoppers are in our lives, we always believe that next year will be better.
